Dapray Muir is an attorney with more than 35 years experience in corporate and securities law. His practice has included counseling a wide range of commercial enterprises with respect to securities law, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, investment transactions, contracts, and litigation. Clients have included banks, investment management companies, broker-dealers, oil and gas companies, high-tech manufacturers, and computer software companies. He has served as lead counsel in numerous public and private offerings of securities.
Mr. Muir has also worked with a number of non-profit organizations, serving on the boards of the International Federation of Institutes of Advanced Study and the Trust for Museum Exhibitions.
Mr. Muir served one year as law clerk to a federal trial judge in the U.S. District Court for District of Columbia, and two years as Assistant Legal Adviser for Economic and Business Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, providing advice on legislation and regulations relating to international trade, foreign investment, international aviation and maritime matters, telecommunications, and petroleum matters. From 1981 to 1985, he was Chairman of the D.C. Securities Advisory Committee, established by Congress to advise the Public Utilities Commission with respect to securities law issues.
He was a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Panel of Commercial Arbitrators from 1995 to 2015, serving as sole arbitrator or panel member in more than 40 proceedings involving contracts, investments, debt, fraud and misrepresentations, employment, and other commercial matters, with claims ranging from $10,000 to $21,000,000.
Mr. Muir received his A.B. degree from Williams College and his J.D. degree from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the board of editors of the Virginia Law Review. He has written a number of articles relating to international trade and investment.
